You need at least a Private Pilot certificate with an airplane single-engine land rating before adding the multi-engine class rating. Many career-track pilots add it around the time of commercial training, when the twin time also counts toward their professional plans.

There is no set hour minimum, so the timeline comes down to your preparation, the weather, aircraft and instructor availability, and how soon an examiner can see you. Pilots who study the systems and engine-out procedures beforehand tend to move through it faster. We can review current availability with you before you commit to dates.

Yes. Once you pass the practical test, your certificate carries the multi-engine class rating. What you can do with it still depends on your certificate level, currency, any endorsements the aircraft requires, and the rules you are operating under.
